Is MySkinCompanion free? Do I need an account?: Yes, free — and no account. No subscription, no paid tier, no sign-up, no email asked. Open the app, scan the first QR code your practitioner shows you, and your record begins. The app is built and funded by the same team that builds MyBoxScanner — and since your record never leaves your phone, there is nothing for us to sell.
Do I need a code or account from a specific clinic?: No. MySkinCompanion works with any practitioner who uses MyBoxScanner. If your practitioner doesn't yet, you can still save sessions manually.
What exactly is stored about each session?: The product name and category, batch number, expiry date, date of the session, the clinic or practitioner (if you choose to record it), and any notes you add yourself.
Is my data really on my phone only?: Yes. Your record is stored locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.
What happens if I lose my phone?: You can export your record as a file at any time and keep a copy yourself. An optional encrypted backup to your own iCloud or Google Drive will follow in a future version — under your control, with your keys.
Is MySkinCompanion a medical device?: No. It's a personal record-keeping tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or give medical advice. Your practitioner is the source of medical information; MySkinCompanion simply helps you keep a record of it.
